Press Information Bureau Andhra Pradesh Region Additional Director General, Mr. Rajindher Chaudhry recently addressed a Media Workshop for Journalism students at Sri Padmavati Women’s University (SPMVV), Tirupati.
Addressing the gathering Mr Chaudhry focussed on the role of emerging technologies such as AI tools in modern media, the growing importance of digital platforms, and the great potential of the Media and Entertainment Sector.
He said that the central government is implementing various development and welfare programs, and PIB is working to reach the people at the field level to convey information related to government schemes to the regional media, the PIB would provide regular reports to the government on local conditions.
The ADG noted that PIB provides accurate information to clear doubts among people on any topic. He said that PIB conducts extensive publicity about government schemes through various cultural and art sectors, through press media and advertisements.
Special guests included the Dean of Sri Padmavati Women’s University, Prof. Vani, and Prof. Sitakumari, Head of the Department of Law at SPMVV.
They too addressed the importance of media education and law in the evolving digital landscape, underscoring how both fields contribute to shaping responsible journalism and informed public discourse.
Also in attendance were Professor Kiran Prasad from the Department of Journalism at SPMVV, Tirupati District and DIPRO, Mr. Balakondaiah.
They spoke on the necessity of collaboration between academic institutions and media organizations for better integration of new technologies into curricula, ensuring that students are prepared for the rapidly changing media environment.
Speaking on the importance of such forums, Prof. Vani emphasized the need to embrace technological advancements while preserving the essence of journalistic integrity and legal frameworks. The discussions centered on how these tools can be integrated into educational syllabi to equip future journalists with cutting-edge skills.
The event also provided insights into how the university and the media can work together in fostering innovation and ensuring that technology is accessible to all students.
The event saw active participation from media personnel and the Department of Journalism students, who engaged in discussions on how AI tools can be effectively used to streamline news reporting, content generation, and enhance media literacy among the public.
Mr Chaudhry also advised youngsters to participate in a big way in The WAVES 2025 “Reel Making” Challenge which is a unique competition that empowers creators and enthusiasts to showcase their storytelling skills using Meta’s tools through a concise 30-90 second film format.
This challenge is part of the Create in India Challenges, a flagship initiative under the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES), which will be held from 1st to 4th May 2025 at the Jio World Convention Centre & Jio World Gardens, Mumbai.
