Want AP to grow @ 15% annually: MSME Minister

Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for MSME, NRI Empowerment & Relations Mr Kondapalli Srinivas has said that the government wants the State to grow 15% annually as the State is currently lagging behind other states.

Speaking at an event of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers) he added that the Chief Minister wants to create one entrepreneur from every family.

Highlighting the new policies the minister said that the State government had announced one of the best private industrial park policies. In addition he said that AP is also coming up with virtual workplace policy with incentives for people who set up workplaces.

Mr Srinivas acknowledged that the government has received certain grievances such as G.O. Ms. Nos 5 & 6 related to Auto Nagars that are yet to be resolved.

‘We will address them soon’ said the minister. Similarly he said that the government wants to build incubation centres as MSMEs cannot spend much on research and innovation.

‘We are striving hard to address issues such as Mallavalli Industrial Park issue.  The government is now offering land at the initial rates. The State government is keen on winning the faith of entrepreneurs’ said Mr Srinivas.

AP MSME Development Corporation CEO Mrs. Nandani Salaria said, “The government has to act as a facilitator to MSMEs and should collaborate with them for the growth of the sector.

Andhra Pradesh has great potential to grow. The only hassle is the skill gap. With the various measures taken by the State government to address this, there will be an improvement in skill availability in the State”.

Speaking on the occasion, AP Chambers President Mr. Potluri Bhaskara Rao said, “AP Chambers requested the State government to set up one MSE Facilitation Centre in every district and revamp the District Industries Centres to make them more efficient.

He also opined that the government should focus on bringing down the cost of production, especially inputs costs like fuel, power and other raw material, which has become a burden for MSME. The event was held as a curtain raiser for the AP Chambers Business Expo to be held in the last week of November.
