Identifying the city of Vizag as being a key region for NRDC’s various service offerings, Cmde Amit Rastogi (Retd.), CMD, NRDC, GoI said that Vizag and its greater region offered a plethora of opportunities for their services.

‘With the kind of industries located in this region across sectors we have a key role to play in this market’ said Cmde Rastogi addressing a workshop on Intellectual property rights organized jointly by NRDC and APIS as part of the National Intellectual Property Festival.

Advocating for a more inclusive role of IPs in their respective organizations, Cmde Rastogi urged industries to understand and utilize the enormous benefits that IPRs have to offer for their businesses.

‘We are typically more concerned about the safety of our physical property but not about our Intellectual property. This mindset needs to change. 

We at NRDC and our center in Vizag are making every effort in this sphere’ said the CMD, NRDC. Cmde Rastogi called upon MSMEs to scale up with time and to take advantage of the NRDC center in Vizag and see how they can ramp up capacities.

‘In today’s times the country which thrives in innovation will take the lead’ said the CMD, NRDC.

Spreading its Wings

Speaking on the recent activities of NRDC he informed that the organization has been actively reaching out and establishing newer centres in various parts of the country while also forging collaborations abroad.

‘We have signed MoUs with USPTO and AARDO (African Asian Rural Development Organisation)’ which will help take rural technologies from India and put them to work in African countries’ said the NRDC chief.

While the MoU with USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) he will primarily assist in capacity building and IPR awareness programs here.

IP Exchange

NRDC also intends to establish an IPR exchange portal on PPP mode which Cmde Rastogi said will be a global online platform rather than an e-marketplace for trading of IPRs worldwide. 

NRDC CMD hails Vizag Centre

Lauding NRDC’s Vizag center under the leadership of Dr BK Sahu, Cmde Rastogi heaped praises on the Vizag team for having achieved many feats in the past one and a half years.

‘Just in the past year alone our Vizag office has filed 267 patents this by no means is a small achievement. In addition, our Vizag team has been aggressive in holding various IPR sensitization and awareness programs for the benefit of both academia and industry. 

I give full credit to Dr Sahu and his able team for their commitment and result-oriented approach’ said Cmde Rastogi.
