Visakhapatnam’s Lok Sabha member of parliament, Mr M Sribharat recently called upon(separately) two key central ministers to discuss issues pertaining to Vizag’s overall infrastructure.

Identifying traffic congestion to be a growing menace for the city’s residents Mr Sribharat met with the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Mr Nitin Gadkari, in New Delhi and discussed ways of enhancing connectivity and easing traffic congestion in Visakhapatnam.

The MP emphasized the urgent need for traffic decongestion in Visakhapatnam, considering the city’s rapid growth and increasing vehicular movement.

He also highlighted the importance of enhancing connectivity for the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport, which is set to become a key aviation hub in the region.

Another key request made by MP Sribharat was the redesign of the entry ramp onto NH16 at Anandapuram Junction.

He pointed out that the current design is causing significant traffic bottlenecks and that a well-planned redesign would improve the traffic flow and provide a seamless commuting experience for the people of Visakhapatnam.

Additionally, discussions were held regarding the Vizag-Kharagpur Beach Corridor project, which is currently in the DPR stage. This ambitious project aims to boost coastal connectivity, promote tourism, and improve economic activity along the eastern coastline.

Expressing his gratitude to Minister Nitin Gadkari for his commitment to infrastructure development in Andhra Pradesh he said “Visakhapatnam is rapidly emerging as a major economic and tourism hub, and seamless road connectivity is crucial for its growth.

The Bhogapuram International Airport will be a game-changer for the region, and we must ensure that road connectivity is well-planned and future-ready. I thank Minister Nitin Gadkari for his continuous support and guidance in making Visakhapatnam’s infrastructure world-class.

I will continue to work towards bringing the best development projects to our city and ensuring that the needs of the people are met efficiently.”

Sports Infra&NCoE

Similarly in another meeting MP Sri Bharat called upon Mr Mansukh Mandaviya Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, to discuss key proposals aimed at strengthening sports infrastructure in Visakhapatnam.

The discussion primarily focused on two major projects – the Multipurpose Indoor Hall under the Khelo India Scheme and the establishment of a National Centre of Excellence (NCoE) in the city.

MP Sri Bharat urged the Minister to approve the proposal submitted by the District Collector and Chairman of the District Sports Authority, Visakhapatnam, for the construction of a state-of-the-art Multipurpose Indoor Hall at Chinagadili, opposite Skill Development Corporation, Arilova.

With an estimated cost of Rs 14 Crores the proposed project is designed to cater to multiple sports disciplines, including Badminton, Volleyball, Judo, Wrestling, Handball, and Kabaddi.

This facility aims to provide aspiring athletes with modern training amenities and advanced infrastructure, helping them refine their skills and compete at national and international levels.

MP Sri Bharat also submitted a representation for the establishment of a National Centre of Excellence (NCoE) in Visakhapatnam.

He stated that the State Government is prepared to allocate land for this prestigious center, which will offer world-class training facilities, expert coaching, and cutting-edge methodologies to develop elite athletes.

He emphasized that the establishment of the NCoE will play a vital role in nurturing sports talent not only from Andhra Pradesh but across India, providing athletes with top-tier resources to excel in their respective fields.

MP Sri Bharat highlighted that these initiatives will strengthen the sports culture in Visakhapatnam, encourage young athletes, and position the city as a major hub for sporting excellence.

He expressed confidence that with the support of the Government of India, these projects will significantly contribute to the development of sports infrastructure in the city, inspiring and empowering the youth to pursue careers in sports and achieve national and international success.
