New star category hotels which had evinced interest in setting up luxury hotels in the state of Andhra Pradesh are expected to soon expedite work on their respective project sites and are being fully facilitated by the state’s tourism department.
In the recently held collectors’ conference, Mr V Vinay Chand IAS, secretary to government Tourism and culture apprised the chief minister, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu that collectors of the concerned districts have been asked to proactively arrange site visits and facilitate fast coordination of the necessary approvals where required.
Some of the marquee hotel brands that are slated to come up with luxury hotels in AP include the likes of Oberoi group, Novotel, Mayfair and Hyatt regency.
These proposals have already been signed by the government of Andhra Pradesh with the respective groups and are under various phases of completion.
‘We plan to inaugurate these projects/foundations under the CM’s first 100 day action plan’ said Mr Vinay Chand giving the presentation.
Oberoi Group: The Oberoi group of hotels has evinced interest in setting up 7 star properties at Vizag, Tirupati, Gandikota, Horsley Hills and Rajahmundry.
The total investments across these 5 properties are estimated to be around Rs 1350 crores. The land has already been allocated in Vizag to the group.
Tirupati: Similarly the holy town of Tirupati is slated to see new hotels from Novotel and Hyatt Regency. The Novotel property is set to come up with an estimated investment of Rs 126.48 crores with an employment generation of 300 people.
The Hyatt Regency has proposed an investment of Rs 218 crores for the Tirupati hotel with a projected employment of 260 people.
Vizag: Mayfair hotels & resorts have proposed for a hotel in Vizag with an investment of Rs 400 crores and a potential employment of 700 people. Land for this project is said to have already been allocated which is said to be next to the upcoming Oberoi hotel.
A tourism vision document is also said to be on the anvil which will spell out the vision for the sector for the next 1 year.
