In a major achieve-ment that could well give an impetus to the IT and overall technology ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh search giant has proposed to invest in a facility in Vizag.
This development follows the signing of MoU on Dec 5th, between Google and the Government of Andhra Pradesh to collaborate on various AI initiatives. AP’s IT minister, Mr Nara Lokesh is said to have played a key role in this following his weeklong trip to the USA and other networking meetings which he had attended.
A senior team from Google led by Mr Bikash Koley, Vice President, Google Global Networking and Infrastructure (GGNI) recently met the Chief Minister, Mr Nara Chandrababu Naidu and briefed him on Google’s operations in India, its future plans, and proposed strategic investments plans, particularly for Visakhapatnam.
Mr Bikash Koley, emphasized that Andhra Pradesh is a key partner state for Google and expressed his anticipation about undertaking significant new initiatives over time
The interaction included the presence of Mr Nara Lokesh, Minister for ITE&C; Mr Neerabh Kumar, I.A.S., Chief Secretary to Government; Dr N. Yuvaraj, I.A.S., Secretary to Government, Industries & Commerce and other senior officials from the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Commenting on the visit, the Chief Minister highlighted how Andhra Pradesh is transforming the IT landscape in the country, welcomed Google’s proposed investments in the State, and assured support for the policies and incentives. These measures aim to establish a robust Technology Ecosystem and create employment opportunities in the state.
The Global and Local teams of Google will continue to engage regularly as the partnership with the state progresses for which a strategic collaboration Memorandum of Understanding was also signed by the two sides.
Mr Lokesh, recalled his recent meeting with the Google Leadership during his visit to the USA, where he also had an opportunity to visit the Google headquarters and interact with several senior executives of Google.
