Chief Commissioner of customs and Indirect taxes CGST Zone, Visakhapatnam, Mr Sanjay Pant, participated as the guest of honour at the state’s commercial taxes program.

Speaking at the session Mr Pant quoted Artha shastra and said that for any law to be successful it should have 5 basic parameters.

Elaborating on the five parameters he cited that first the law has to be very simple following which there should be continuous increase in revenue, third the interface between the trade and government should be minimum fourth there should be minimum disputes and in cases where disputes arise there should be a robust redressal mechanism.

Mr Pant spoke on the inception of GST and how it has evolved over the past 6 years and underscored that for any law to settle the gestation period is typically 10 years.

He however expressed concern on the rising no of disputes and thus called upon the need for quick resolution to disputes.

The chief commissioner appreciated the efforts of the state government in opening these new seva kendrams and effused optimism that these would help in arresting the issue of fake invoicing.

To to counter the menace of fake invoicing the AP government has opened 12 GST Seva Kendras across  Andhra Pradesh. The AP government volunteered to be part of this pilot project of the central government.m
