JSW set to begin Dev. on Rs.532 crs MSME park in VZM

Counted among India’s largest conglomerates, the USD 23 billion JSW group is said to be working swiftly on setting up a mega MSME park in the district of Vizianagram, Andhra Pradesh.

The MSME park will be spread over 1166 acres and is located in the villages of Musidipalli, Cheedipalem, Chinakhandeapalli, M.B. Vara, Kiltampalem of S. Kota (Shrungavarapukota Kota) Mandal of Vizianagaram.

Vizianagram which is nestled between Visakhapatnam in the south and Srikakulam in the north, is considered to be one of the most economically backward districts in the state.

‘The development of the MSME park in Vizianagaram will dramatically change the economic landscape of this district’ said Mr Rachuri Kanakarao, Director and CEO of JSW Industrial parks ltd. speaking to Vizag Industrial Scan.

Some of the proposed sectors that the park is envisioning includes textiles and apparels, agro and food processing, electric vehicle, lithium-ion battery recycling, ethanol manufacturing, green hydrogen.

In addition the MSME park shall also consist of a toy cluster, shipping container manufacturing, coir cluster, logistics and warehousing, IT park and engineering. The group is said to have acquired the land way back in 2007-08. 

‘Apart from land cost we look to invest Rs 532 crores in developing this park which will be used to create common infrastructure, water facilities, power connection, ETP, sewage treatment plant etc.’ said Mr Kanakarao.

‘Businesses at JSW Industrial Park will be able to opt for varied plot sizes with key amenities built in’ informed the director and CEO of JSW Industrial parks.

And to accommodate the people working in the park it shall also have a residential complex for people wanting to live close by to their work area.

Overall the park envisages a total investment of Rs 10-12 k crores with an employment potential of 30-40k over the next 5 years.

‘We are currently in the process of obtaining environmental clearance for this park and hopefully by September this year we shall start development activities too’ said Mr Rao.
