Crucial for Youth to understand functioning of Parliamentary system

Emphasising the role of youth in today’s parliamentary system of democracy Visakhapatnam’s member of parliament, Lok Sabha, Mr M Sribharat said that it is paramount for the youth of today to understand the intricacies of India’s parliamentary system and inspired them to take an active role in nation-building.

Mr Sribharat was addressing the first day of the regional round of the Young Indians Parliament (YIP), held in GITAM, Visakhapatnam which aimed to bring together bright young minds from across the region.

Sharing his experiences of working within the parliamentary system, the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha member passionately emphasized the critical role that awareness of parliamentary functioning plays in shaping informed and responsible citizens.

“By understanding how the parliamentary system works, you equip yourselves to actively contribute to the democratic process and make a meaningful impact on India’s development,” remarked Mr. Bharat.

The session also witnessed interactive sessions designed to engage students in discussions on governance, democracy, and leadership and provided participants with an opportunity to explore the functioning of the Indian Parliament. Similarly it also delved into the structure of the government, understood the law-making process, and learned about the significance of public policy.

Several other distinguished speakers such as Mr. Darshan Mutha, National Chair of Yi Thalir, Mr. Harsha Nandan, Chair of Yi Visakhapatnam spoke and encouraged participants to seize the opportunities presented through YIP to grow into responsible citizens.

Similarly Ms. Sravani Bikkina, Co-Chair of Yi Visakhapatnam, and Ms. Sadaf Mehdi, Chair of Yi Visakhapatnam Thalir Vertical, both emphasized the need for greater youth involvement in civic processes and shared insights into how the Yi initiatives aim to foster this involvement.

Through the Young Indians Parliament, Yi reinforces its core pillars of nation-building, thought leadership, and youth leadership. The event empowered young citizens to play a meaningful role in India’s growth while encouraging them to think critically about governance, and groom the leaders of tomorrow.
