Cos need to swiftly send out fire alerts: Fire Officer

Mr D Niranajan Reddy, Regional fire officer Visakhapatnam has emphasized on creating more awareness among the public on fire safety and also the need for quick communication to the fire department when a fire incident takes place.

We at the department many times receive information of fire accidents after a lapse of 20 to 30 minutes whereas it can be informed in a couple of minutes by which major fire accidents can be averted, noted Mr Reddy.

The regional fire officer was addressing an installation programme of New Office bearers of FSAI (Fire and Security Association of India), Visakhapatnam Chapter.

Also at the event FSAI National President Mr.V Srinivas  insisted that Visakhapatnam Chapter should focus more awareness programs on various groups to meet FSAI mission to make SURAKSHIT BHARAT. 

He too urged to conduct awareness programmes for industry and multistore residential complexes etc. In addition he added that the Chapter should equally focus on Women Safety and create a Woman safety committee.

The Regional Director South Mr.S.Ranga Raju  while addressing the gathering said that FSAI should focus more on involving local industries as Visakhapatnam has large number of PSUs as well private industries and also insisted that more efforts need to be made to interact with residents of apartments and create fire safety and security awareness programmes. Dr G Sambasiva Rao of Sravan Shipping was awarded for best fire safety practices in the industry.
