Extends Incentives to Ferro Alloys companies for one year
Conducting a review meeting on mining activity in the state today the chief minister Mr N Chandrababu Naidu stressed the need for strengthening AP Mineral Development Corporation.
Mr Naidu asked his officials to focus on providing value addition to mining products through exports and domestic usage.
Noting that limestone, beach sand, iron ore, manganese, quartz, silica sand, clay, granite mines are located in the state, he called on officials to make efforts to provide value addition to different mining products.
He opined that a metal cluster should be set up in the North Andhra region keeping in view the rapid industrial growth in Visakhapatnam.
Citing the example of Odisha he said it stands first in mining revenue and the mining system of that state should be studied to improve the mining revenue of Andhra Pradesh.
At the same time he said surveillance should be increased to using drones and RTGS in real time to prevent unauthorized mining activity.
In addition, he said the Mines department should make efforts to encourage more mining companies.
It was further discussed that steps should be taken to discuss with the central government to provide incentives to mining companies.
Focus should be made on futuristic minerals by taking advice from mining experts, said the CM.
Keeping in mind the Amaravati capital development works he asked officials to see that there is no shortage of construction material.
He therefore directed the officials to discuss with district collectors and arrange supply of material to CRDA. The CM simultaneously stressed the need for increasing satisfaction level on free sand supply.
Minister for Mines Mr Kollu Ravindra, Mr Pravin Kumar, IAS along with other officials were present in the meeting.
In another meeting the Chief Minister Naidu also took a decision to extend the incentives to Ferro Alloys companies for one more year.
With this the government will have to bear a burden of Rs 1,053 crores, said a release from the CM’s office.
