CII AP hails budget 2025 for being inclusive & growth driven

CII Andhra Pradesh has commended the union budget 2025-26 for being an inclusive and growth oriented budget.

Addressing the media CII, AP Chairman, Dr V Murali Krishna, said that the budget lays a strong roadmap for boosting agriculture, MSMEs, startups, healthcare, and infrastructure.

He highlighted the increase in the income tax exemption limit to Rs 12 lakh as a significant relief for the middle class thereby enhancing savings and increasing disposable income supporting the government’s objective of uplifting household sentiments & spending power of India’s rising middle class.

Dr Krishna also noted that the exemption of basic customs duty on 36 life-saving drugs, including those for cancer and rare diseases, will reduce the cost of treatment, making essential healthcare more accessible.

Similarly he said that the establishment of 200 day care cancer centers in district hospitals will decentralize cancer care and reduce the burden on major hospitals.

The government’s initiative to add 75,000 new medical seats over the next five years is a critical step in addressing India’s doctor-to-population ratio, ensuring a stronger healthcare workforce, said the CII AP chairman.

Emphasizing the strategic importance of shipbuilding Mr Neeraj Sarda, Past Chairman, CII Andhra Pradesh lauded the Rs 25,000 crore Maritime Development Fund and incentives for large ships, making it a key job creator.

Mr Sarda also appreciated the government’s focus on mining and recovery of critical minerals, including duty exemptions on lithium-ion batteries and cobalt which he opined will reduce import dependency and support industries like electronics and defence.

He further added that the Rs 20,000 crore, Nuclear Energy Mission for Small Modular Reactors coupled with EV and green energy investments will drive capital expenditure and accelerate India’s clean energy transition strengthening industrial growth and self-reliance.

Mr Srinivas Raju, Past Chairman, CII Visakhapatnam, welcomed the government’s strong focus on deep technology and innovation, which will drive India’s next phase of industrial and technological growth.

He emphasized that the expansion of nuclear energy capacity will enhance energy security, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and accelerate the transition to a sustainable future.

Mr Satyendra V, Member, CII MSME Panel, CII Visakhapatnam applauded the government’s strong support for MSMEs, recognizing them as a key growth engine in Budget 2025-26. The establishment of five National Centres of Excellence for Skilling will bridge industry skill gaps, empowering MSMEs with a trained workforce, he said. 

Mr Anil Bejawada, Convenor, Taxation & Finance Panel, CII Visakhapatnam said that the removal of the social welfare surcharge is a major boost for import-dependent industries. He added that the extension of the TDS compliance window from 2 years to 4 years will reduce financial stress for businesses and the digitalization of income tax appeals is expected to improve transparency and efficiency in tax administration.

Mr DV Phanindra, Convenor, Startup Panel, CII Andhra Pradesh too hailed Budget 2025 for providing a major impetus to startups and setting a strong roadmap for the next five years.
