3G services to be phased off, customers urged to upgrade their SIM to 4G/5G
Government backed telecom operator BSNL finally launched its 4G services in the city of destiny, Visakhapatnam.
The 4G Inaugural function was attended by Dr. M.Satya Prasad, DGM along with Mr P.Paul William ITS Principal General Manager, Chief Guest Mr Atul Bhatt CMD, Guest of Honour Dr. Suresh Chandra Pandey, Director (Personal) RINL and GADAM Principal General Manager (operations).
4G services were launched in the RINL cluster covering RINL Administrative, Plant area and the Residential quarters with Make in India manufacturing equipment.
Speaking on this occasion PGMTD Paul Wiliam informed that, for this purpose, the Government of India allotted Indigenous 4G / upgraded to 5G mobile stack under Atmanirbhar Bharath which will be funded completely by GOI.
The equipment stack is manufactured under the consortium which is indigenously developed technology by IT Company TCS, state-run Telecom research organization C-DoT, and TEJAS.
Mr William further informed that in the Visakhapatnam district, presently 407 BTSS of 2G&3G technologies are working. All these 407 sites will be upgraded from 3G to 4G.
Mr Bhatt informed that in future BSNL and RINL will work together in rolling out the new services as per the Industry 4.0 requirements and make the both the PSUs in Win-Win situation.
