A long-awaited project for the people of Kadapa and which could significantly boost the overall development of the Rayalaseema region the chief minister Mr N Chandrababu Naidu announced the beginning of the works for the steel plant from June onwards.
This steel plant is of much significance as steel behemoth JSW steel is undertaking to build AP’s first green steel plant with state of the art infrastructure which shall entail an initial investment of Rs 4,500 crore and with a steel production capacity of 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).
JSW Steel’s billionaire promoter Mr Sajjan Jindal along with his director Mr Rachuri Kanaka Rao had recently met the chief minister in New Delhi to firm up plans for the ground breaking of this coveted project.
This project is expected to transform the industrial landscape of Rayalaseema region. “The long-awaited Kadapa Steel Plant construction works will soon commence and will generate employment for over 3,000 people,” said the Chief Minister addressing the people of Kadapa at the Mahanadu gathering.
Terming it a vital step towards equitable growth, Chief Minister Naidu reiterated his government’s clear policy of decentralization and balanced regional development. “Our policy is clear decentralization of development.
We are committed to developing every region of the state equally,” said the Chief Minister Mr Naidu. He further added that large-scale industries must be established in Rayalaseema to ensure balanced growth.
It might be noted that JSW is also undertaking another mega project i.e. Industrial cum Micro Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) park in the Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh with an investment of over Rs 530 crores.
