Vizag Customs records Revenue of over Rs. 11k crs

Vizag custom house has collected revenues of Rs 11, 757 crores for the period April-Dec 2023. The Principal Commissioner of customs, Visakhapatnam, Mr N Sridhar gave this information at a recent function held to mark the international customs day.

The customs department has set a target of Rs 16,942 crores of customs revenue to be achieved by the end of this fiscal i.e. FY 24.

Elaborating further the principal commissioner said that on the exports side speedy disbursal of export benefits and completing provisional assessment have seen maximum impact.

‘I am very happy to inform you that in Dec 2023 the Vizag zone reached 90% disbursal in less than 3 days’ said Mr Sridhar.

Similarly on the import assessment side he informed that faceless assessment groups or FAGs as they call it has been among the better performing zones in the country on various parameters such as % clearance under 12 hours, minimum query % or dwell time of clearance.

The Chief Commissioner Customs & CGST, Visakhapatnam zone, Mr Sanjay Pant, IRS highlighted the crucial role played by the customs department in facilitating trade and commerce.

‘Customs have a very important role to play in the ease of doing business’ said the chief commissioner.

The Vizag customs zone has taken several new initiatives over the past few years in view of enhancing ease of doing business.

From Self-assessment to 24X7 customs clearance to faceless assessment to e-sanchit to risk management software, DPD and DPE etc the customs department has undertaken a slew of initiatives to enhance customer experience.
