‘Women safety, drug menace top priority’

Taking charge as the city’s police commissioner Mr C.M. Trivikrama Varma, IPS stated that some of his top priorities would be tackling the drug and ganja menace, ensuring women’s safety while also dealing with traffic woes.

Speaking on the drug menace he said that the authorities are well aware of the ganja smugglers and that action would be taken.

Mr Varma is no stranger to the region as he has held several posts in and around this region earlier. He was the DCP (Law and Order), Visakhapatnam from 2014-16. A 2005 IPS batch officer Mr Varma succeeded Mr CH Srikanth who has now been appointed as Inspector general, CID.

Simultaneously Mr V. Vidya Sagar Naidu took charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law & Order).
