Issue of non availability of rakes being addressed: DRM

Waltair DRM, Mr Anup Kumar Satpathy has said that the issue of non availability of rakes is being addressed by his team and that in a few months rakes would be sufficiently available.

Mr Satpathy was addressing the members of the Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently wherein he also called on private operators to own some rakes themselves in order to ease the issue of rake availability.

Speaking on the development aspects the DRM highlighted a slew of infrastructure projects that are being carried out by the division to negate bottlenecks and ease the flow of traffic both in passenger as well as freight segments.

‘We have recently got Rs 640 crores sanctioned to boost our infrastructure development with the sanctioning of 3 Major projects’ informed the DRM.

The projects Sanctioned include 3rd and 4th line between Duvvada-Simhachalam North stations a stretch of 20.543 kms at a cost of Rs 302.25 crores, 3rd and 4th lines between Vadlapudi-Gate Junction cabin including tie line between Gangavaram Port-Visakhapatnam steel plant a stretch of 12.04 kms for a cost of Rs 154.28 crores and Sanctioning of rail flyover project between Pendurthi and Simhachalam North Stations to avoid surface crossing at Simhachalam at stretch of 7.135 kms for an amount of Rs 183.65 crores.

Waltair division ended FY 23 on a high by registering its highest ever freight loading and revenue. Earlier VCCI President Mr R.Satish, along with Mr G Veeramohan Past President, VCCI welcome the DRM and briefed him about the chambers 90 years history and the activities being conducted by VCCI.
