VPA sets record in Alumina handling

Visakhapatnam Port Authority recently handled a record quantity of 7,639 Metric Tonnes with a gang hook output of 637 MT calcined alumina in bulk.

Utkal Alumina International Ltd was loaded onto m.v HPC Future Vessel at East Quay-3 on 1st December 2023 duly surpassing its previous record quantity of 7,549 M.Tonnes”, during November, 2023.  

This was a remarkable performance by the Stevedores Sravan Shipping Services Pvt.Ltd. and Eshwar Shipping Services being the Steamer Agents for the vessel which is an all Time Record creation during the year 2023-24. 

Dr. M. Angamuthu, IAS, Chairperson, VPA, commended the Stevedores and the Steamer Agents, and also Mr B. Ratna Sekhara Rao, Traffic Manager, VPA and his Team for the record performance. He further stated that VPA Management would break many more records in the years to come duly making VPA reach the targets of the Ministry.

Sravan Shipping does a hat-trick

Stevedores at Visakhapatnam port authority M/s. Sravan Shipping Services Pvt.Ltd. recently created a record Hat-trick performance at the Port of Visakhapatnam for loading calcined alumina powder.

As per an official release from Sravan Shipping Services Pvt Ltd. the previous highest record loading of Calcined Alumina Powder at Visakhapatnam port was 5336 MT per day.

However Sravan Shipping Services Pvt Ltd.  broke its own previous best and created a Hat-trick record breaking performance by handling 6989 MT of calcined alumina powder on 29th November followed by 7549MT on 30th November and 7639 MT on 1st December, 2023. 

This is the highest performance by any stevedore in any Indian Ports by creating Hat-trick performance in the same vessel continuously for the 3 days, said the release from Sravan shipping services. 

The company also congratulated Eshwar Shipping Services vessel agents and master of vessel for co-operating for the remarkable performance.
