SCR registers Best-Ever Freight Loading in Nov.

South Central Railway registered its best-ever performance for the month of November in any financial year during 2023 in both passenger and freight segments. 

The Zone  registered originating passenger revenue of Rs 469.40 Crores in November 2023. Similarly, the Zone  achieved 11.573 Million Tonnes of freight loading and freight revenue of Rs 1131.13 Crores during November, 2023, which is the highest-ever performance for the month of November in any financial year.

The Zone has been constantly monitoring the passenger trends so as to introduce and operate special trains wherever feasible. SCR has operated 64 special trains (342 trips) wherein 3.39 lakh passengers were carried through these trains in November, 2023. 

In addition, the Zone has been continuously augmenting the trains with additional coaches, wherever there is a possibility and demand, leading to more number of passengers being transported.

In terms of Passenger revenue, the Zone achieved Rs 469.40 Crore revenue in November 2023, which is 7% more than the last year (Rs 436.46 Cr).

Simultaneously, the Zone has been giving importance to widen its freight basket by adding new streams of traffic and also new destinations, while strengthening the existing traffic. 

The continuous endeavour in this direction has resulted in the Zone recording its best-ever freight loading for the month of November by transporting 11.573 MTs of freight commodities. 

This is 10% more than the last year freight loading in the same period (10.479 MTs). The improvement in freight loading is clearly visible in all commodities like Coal, Iron Ore, Cement, Food Grains, Fertilisers etc.

SCR GM, Mr. Arun Kumar Jain, has congratulated both the Operating and Commercial team of Officers and staff for achieving this impressive earnings in the current financial year. 

He advised the staff and officers of all the Divisions and headquarters to maintain the same tempo so as to achieve the best performance by the end of the financial year.
