Updates NRIs on AP’s new policies/vision
Andhra Pradesh’s Minister of State for Education, IT & Electronics Mr Nara Lokesh, who is currently touring America (from October 25 till November 1) kickstarted his US tour with a series of investor meetings pitching AP to investors in California.
Starting out in picturesque city of San Franciso Mr Lokesh held multiple meetings with top notch executives of various technology companies and spoke about Chief minister Mr N Chandrababu Naidu’s vision of a Swarnandhra Pradesh by 2047.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) has set an ambitious target to transform the state into a $2.4 trillion economy by 2047 which includes achieving a per capita income of $43,000.
In a round table meeting with NRIs organized by the Indian Consul General Dr K Srikar Reddy in San Francisco Mr Lokesh reiterated the state government’s focus on speed of doing business while also laid strong emphasis on job creation, skill training and development.
‘Our 1st focus is to deliver on job creation which we had alluded to in our pre-election rallies and we will deliver on our promise of 2 million jobs over the next 5 years’ said the young IT minister.
He highlighted to them the advantages of investing in Andhra Pradesh keeping in mind the 6 new investor-friendly industrial policies launched by the government.
The IT & Electronics minister also spoke about a decentralised development model where each district is being developed with specific focus areas.
‘The Southern part of AP will focus on Automotive manufacturing, renewable energy, the Chittoor and Kadapa region will focus on IT and electronics while Visakhapatnam will focus on IT, Chemical, Pharma and even medical devices’ said the minister.
Similarly, Mr Lokesh spoke about the opportunities in data centres, renewable energy, green hydrogen, ports and shipping, establishment of aviation university, development of capital region (Amaravati) with an estimated $5 billion in investments, drone summit held recently in Vijayawada.
Among some of the eminent investors/executives Mr Lokesh met included Praveen Akkiraju; Nvidia Vice President Rama Akkiraju; Wipro President Nagendra Bandaru; Nutanix President Rajeev Ramaswamy; Dev Rave CEO Dheeraj Pandey, Glean CEO Arvind Jain; Digicert CEO Amit Sinha; Indiaspora Founder MR Rangaswamy, Falcon X Co-Founder Raju Indukuri, Google Vice President Rao Surapaneni and many others.
In a first Mr Lokesh along with San Jose Mayor Mr Matt Mahan and Milpitas Mayor Carmen Montano unveiled an intelligent electrical light utility vehicle driverless cabin truck developed by Boson Motors, a subsidiary of Falcon X.
Some of the bureaucrats accompanying the minister include Mr Karthikeya Misra, IAS Additional secretary to CM, and Mr CM Saikanth Varma, IAS, CEO of Andhra Pradesh economic development board.
