Japanese Amb. hails Sri City for enriching Indo-Japan ties

Mr. Ono Keiichi, Ambassador of Japan to India recently marked his very first visit to the integrated business city, Sri City.

Accompanied by Mr. Takahashi Muneo, Consul General of Japan in Chennai and a few other officials, they were welcomed by Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder and Managing Director of Sri City, who noted that it was a rare honour to host a Japanese Ambassador at Sri City after a long interval, reflecting Sri City’s special standing within the Japanese diplomatic circles.

Showcasing Sri City’s rapid rise as a global business hub with 235 companies from 31 countries, Dr. Sannareddy highlighted its emergence as India’s second-largest base for Japanese investments, powered by a strong OEM and supplier ecosystem.

The Ambassador took a deep interest in Sri City’s progress and enthusiastically explored opportunities for future collaboration with Japanese businesses. Applauding Sri City’s efforts in strengthening Indo-Japan ties, he acknowledged its key role in attracting Japanese investments.

He also assured to showcase Sri City’s strengths to Japanese investors and encourage more business delegations to engage with Sri City.

The Ambassador had a luncheon meeting with the CXOs of leading Japanese companies operating in Sri City and the Japanese expats.

The interaction was marked by an open exchange of ideas and feedback from the CXOs on the conducive business environment and proactive support from Sri City management.

Following the luncheon, the Ambassador visited the manufacturing facilities of Daikin & Unicharm & also interacted with the senior leadership.
