India Post’s Philatelic expo draws huge crowds

The Andhra Pradesh Postal Circle recently conducted a three-day State level Philatelic Exhibition named APPEX-2022 in cooperation with Philatelists/ Philatelic clubs of Andhra Pradesh.

The exhibition held from November 23-25 in Visakhapatnam was inaugurated by AU Vice Chancellor Prof P.V.G.D Prasad Reddy.

Over 5700 exhibits were displayed by the Philatelists from across the country in this APPEX-2022. Appreciating the beauty of the State level Philatelic Exhibition, Vice Chancellor, Andhra University stressed on the importance of Stamp Collection which is the King of hobbies and urged students to witness and share the beauty of Philatelic Exhibition conducted by AP Postal Circle. He requested the Department of Posts to examine the possibility of releasing a Postal Stamp for the Centenary Celebrations of Andhra University next year. Addressing the gathering Postmaster General Vijayawada & Visakhapatnam Regions & Chairperson of Jury APPEX-2022 Mr. D.S.V.R. Murthy, said that this was a great opportunity of holding a State Level Philatelic Exhibition in the Andhra Pradesh State after a span of 8 years.

The expo gives an opportunity to students to learn about various themes on which different Postage Stamps were released by the Govt. of India, said Mr Murthy.

Special Cover on RINL

On the second day the PMG released a “Special Cover” on Vizag Steel Plant during the APPEX-2022, to commemorate the contribution of Vizag Steel Plant towards sustainable development initiative. With an installed capacity of 7.3 Million Ton Per Annum at Visakhapatnam, the Vizag Steel plant is the market leader of bars & rods in the country and is the recipient of the National Energy Conservation Award by the Ministry of Steel.

Mr. RP Sharma, General Manager (Corporate Communications), Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited expressed his gratitude to the Dept. of Posts for releasing a Special Cover on Vizag Steel plant. He also apprised the latest initiatives being taken by Vizag Steel plant and urged the students and gathering to inculcate the habit of recalling the history through stamp collection. Also a Special Cover on NSTL was released.
