Addressing the second collectors conference in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister Mr Pawan Kalyan came down heavily on collectors for what he opined as being nonchalant.
Recalling the past governments tenure Mr Kalyan said the bureaucracy din’t participate and just listened to them without saying no. ‘A little oversight/let go attitude of yours can cost us dearly. This has already cost the state a debt of Rs 10 lakh crore and we are struggling today’ opined the deputy chief minister.
Bringing up the issue of illegal rice export issue from Kakinada he said that there were 3 check posts put in place yet it failed to hold the wrongdoers accountable.
He further noted that the past government hurt the bureaucracy by using revenue staff to sell movie tickets. In addition, he said there were many other fiscal irregularities which were overlooked.
Addressing collectors of 26 districts and heads of 40 departments he said that people of the state had believed in them and thus given them power therefore urged them to work in tandem in order to better serve the citizens of the state.
‘We can make good policies but only Collectors can take them to the people’ said the deputy chief minister.
Mr Kalyan stated that he believes in the powers entrusted upon IAS and IPS and they can do many good things for the people at large.
The deputy chief minister also lauded the administrative ability of the chief minister, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu and said that it was under his stewardship that the state earned its name of efficient bureaucracy which was destroyed during the past five years.
‘There was an era when the bureaucracy of Andhra Pradesh was known to be a role model state. As DMs/collectors you are not just administrators you are the driving force for the implementation of our governance, vision for development, welfare and public service. Your leadership and ability to translate our policies into actionable outcomes directly impact the lives of millions of people’ reiterated the deputy chief minister.
