Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu yet again proved his mettle as one of the most well-regarded and celebrated administrators of his time.
Today, Andhra Pradesh marked the 11th International Yoga Day with unprecedented enthusiasm, with a record-breaking over 3 lakh citizens participating in a mass yoga demonstration in Visakhapatnam.
An event of this magnitude wouldn’t have been possible without the meticulous planning, minute-to-minute detailing, and seamless coordination led by the chief minister himself, along with his able team, for which preparations had started a month ago.
Today, those efforts bore fruit with a remarkable 302,087 people participating in the Visakhapatnam event alone, with some citizens arriving as early as 2 AM, reflecting their enthusiasm.
The Record
With the participation of more than three lakh people, the Visakhapatnam Yoga Day event has set a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering for a yoga session in one place.
“Today, Visakhapatnam saw two mighty oceans with the Bay of Bengal on one side and a boundless sea of yoga practitioners on the other,” said CM Naidu, taking to X.
The chief minister thanked PM Modi for allowing the hosting of this event and commended every participant, organizer, and volunteer who made this record-breaking event possible.
The CM also expressed his appreciation for the smooth and record-breaking execution of International Yoga Day, commending the efforts of ministers, MLAs, employees, and officials.
Yoga Trainers
In addition, Mr Naidu acknowledged the 1.44 lakh yoga trainers whose efforts enabled the campaign’s remarkable reach, including special programs at over 100 tourist sites and certifications for 1.7 crore participants.
He stated that the event marked a significant step forward in promoting public health and wellness, presenting a model of inter-departmental coordination and public participation.
Record in Surya Namaskar
Mr Naidu also praised the ministers and administrative officers whose efforts enabled 22,122 tribal students to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest synchronized Surya Namaskar performance.
Using Tech
A notable highlight was the use of a QR code-based participant tracking system, which ministers noted yielded highly accurate attendance data, setting a new benchmark for public events.
The CM extended special congratulations to all involved in achieving multiple world records, asserting that such initiatives reflect the state’s growing commitment to wellness and global standards.
The Chief Minister noted the global recognition of International Yoga Day since its adoption by the United Nations. He credited Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi’s leadership in driving this impact, with Yoga Day now celebrated at over 12 lakh venues across 175+ countries and 10 crore participants worldwide.
PM leads IYD
The Prime Minister led the celebrations of International Yoga Day and took part in the Yoga session, and described Visakhapatnam as a confluence of nature and progress.
Addressing the occasion, the Prime Minister extended warm greetings to people across India and the world on International Yoga Day.
He remarked that the essence of yoga is “to unite”, and it is heartening to see how yoga has united the world.
PM hails CBN, Pawan Kalyan & Lokesh
Mr Modi commended the people for their excellent organisation of the event and extended congratulations to Mr Chandrababu Naidu and Mr Pawan Kalyan for their leadership.
The Prime Minister highlighted that under their leadership, Andhra Pradesh launched a remarkable initiative—Yogandhra Abhiyan.
He also specially appreciated the efforts of Mr Nara Lokesh, stating that he has demonstrated how yoga can be a true social celebration and how every section of society can be included.
Mr Modi remarked that in the past one to one-and-a-half months, Mr Lokesh has shown exemplary commitment through the Yogandhra Abhiyan and is deserving of praise for his efforts.
