The Andhra Pradesh state skill development Council (APSSDC) recently organized a first of its kind Industry Stakeholders Workshop in Visakhapatnam recently.
The objective of the workshop was to sensitize companies at large of the various services being offered by APSSDC and more importantly how industry can leverage them.
Principal Secretary to Government of Andhra Pradesh, Mr S Suresh Kumar, I.A.S. inaugurated the workshop along with APSSDC MD & CEO Dr. Vinod Kumar V I.A.S., Advisor to the GoAP Mr Gadi Reddy Sridhar Reddy.
Representatives from over 94 companies from diverse sectors participated in the workshop and had a meaningful exchange with APSSDC top brass.
Addressing the gathering Principal Secretary, Mr Suresk Kumar said that the department has already adopted the skills cascading ecosystem to prepare manpower as per industry requirements.
He informed that a novel program called Industry Customized Skill Training and Placements program (ICSTP) is being undertaken to train students in the industry premises, where they will train in various courses for 30-45 days.
In addition they will provide employment in the same industry was explained in detail & demand collected from Industries. He also said that in the coming days, not only manufacturing industries, but also IT and service sectors will also take up the trainings.
Underscoring the importance of skilling and upskilling in today’s day and age Dr Vinod Kumar said that AP was one of the few states to have undertaken skilling on a massive scale.
Today governments across the world are concerned about their youth and their job prospects. It is therefore crucial that we skill our youth and make them relevant to today’s job requirements said Dr Vinod.
Dr Vinod explained about the training provided by the Corporation to the industry representatives and said that APSSDC is ready to provide training to provide employment opportunities to the youth of Andhra Pradesh.
He also said that necessary guidelines have been given to start the Industry Customized Skill Development Training and Placement (ICSTP) program across AP.
Advisor to the GoAP (Jobfairs and training) Mr. Gadi Reddy Sridhar Reddy highlighted that the Chief Minister Mr. Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has envisioned imparting necessary job-oriented skills to the youth of Andhra Pradesh.
As on date 192 Skill Hubs and 26 Skill Colleges have been established through Skills Cascading ecosystem.
Also, through Job Calendar, 2 job fairs are being organized in each district every month and more than 45,000 job opportunities have already been created as on date. In the coming days there is plan to establish Skill University as well.
In the workshop a Memorandum of Understanding was also signed with APSSDC and Retailers Association Skill Council of India (RASCI).
