Addl. Secy. MeitY pats APIS

On a recent visit to the city of destiny, Visakhapatnam, the Additional secretary, MeitY, Government of India, Mr Bhuvnesh Kumar, IAS was pleasantly surprised to learn of the many initiatives being undertaken by APIS in strengthening the startup ecosystem in the region.

Giving a detailed presentation on the startup ecosystem in the state APIS, CEO Mr Anil Kumar Tentu apprised Mr Bhuvnesh of the various APIS programs and events being implemented while also informing him of the slew of incubators present across the state. Mr Tentu also introduced the additional secretary to some of the startups incubated at APIS.

Learning about the varied initiatives being carried out by the stakeholders, the additional secretary praised the efforts of the APIS team while also appreciated the work being done by NRDC and ITAAP in the city.  Addressing the gathering Mr Bhuvnesh Kumar stated that there is going to be huge demand in the IT sector and that the sector will be a significant contributor to the overall GDP of the country.

He also noted that the electronics and hardware sector is slowly yet steadily catching up and shall play a substantial role in the exports going forward.

He further spoke on some of the other schemes of the government of India such as TIDE 2.0, SAMEER in supporting the IT ecosystem in the state.

Speaking on the successful IBPS (India BPO Promotion scheme) of STPI he said that Vizag has been the biggest beneficiary of the scheme and that Vizag had emerged as the leading tier II city by providing over 13,000 jobs out of a total of 45000 seats in the country.

NRDC’s Dr BK Sahu along with ITAAP president, Mr Sreedhar Kosaraju, APIS Ms Lavanya along with other stakeholders were also present in the meeting.
