Adani Ports berths deepest container vessel

Published on

Mundra Port, India’s largest private commercial port owned by Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), has set a record in Indian shipping for berthing the deepest container vessel ever to call on an Indian port. On February 12, 2023, the M/V MSC Washington LNG, with a draught of 17.0 metres and displacement of 190,000 MT, anchored safely at Mundra Port.

MSC Washington LNG, among the world’s most massive container vessels, is a dual-fuel ultra-large container vessel (ULCV) with a carrying capacity of 14,428 TEUs. The vessel is equipped with an LNG fuel gas supply system (FGSS) by C-LNG Solutions.

The marine team at Mundra Port facilitated and ensured accurate predictions of the under-keel clearance required to safely berth the gigantic vessel by factoring in all the complex conditions of the vessel and live weather conditions.
