The Governor of Odisha, Dr. Kambhampati Haribabu recently hosted members of two esteemed chambers of commerce at Raj Bhavan.

A delegation from The Vizagapatnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) along with the leaders from the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited (UCCIL) met at the governor’s official residence and held a series of discussions that touched upon several broad policy issues.

These discussions as per VCCI were held to overall facilitate and improve trade relations between the two fastest-growing metro economies on India’s east coast.

Addressing the gathering Dr Haribabu outlined several mutual strengths that can be leveraged between the states, and the crucial role both the chambers could play in this.

He reiterated the lesser known strengths of Odisha, including rich mineral wealth, pro-growth policy and bureaucracy, vast network of higher educational institutions, and a focus on skill building, and said entrepreneurs must take advantage of all the incentives provided by the state.

The Governor also emphasised the state’s new found wealth in mining auctions, and assured that all incentives will be honoured.

Deliberating on these members from both VCCI and UCCI spoke on the several opportunities that the regions present while also discussing some of the challenges that were present in expanding trade.

Many areas of potential collaboration such as seafood processing and export, technology and innovation, skill building, and others were explored.

VCCI’s President, Mr. M Sudarshan Swamy, led the delegation and expressed deep gratitude towards the Governor’s warm hospitality. He also effused optimism on future collaborations and improving trade between both the metro economies.

Probod Mohanty, President of UCCIL too echoed similar sentiments.
