Housing for Poor a Priority

Andhra Pradesh’s minister for housing Mr Kolusu Parthasarthy reiterated the Chief Minister’s Mr N Chandrababu Naidu’s focus on housing for the poor and said that the government is giving top priority to this sector.

Addressing media people at his newly inaugurated office he said that the CM has directed them to provide permanent housing to all the poor people in the next five years.

The minister also lashed out at the previous government’s lack of focus on the housing sector and alleged misuse of over Rs 4500 crores.

‘In Mr Naidu’s previous administration, loan assistance for housing units was Rs 2.5 lakhs, but the previous government reduced this amount to Rs 1.80 lakhs and withdrew additional financial aid for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST)’ noted Mr Parthasarthy.

He added that due to the previous government’s mismanagement the state has been saddled to a debt of over Rs.10.50 lakh crore.

Mr Parthasarthy reassured the poor people of getting their houses and said that that no poor person will be without a home under the current government’s regime and that the Housing Department is taking steps towards achieving the goal.

Mr. Himanshu Shukla, Director of the State Information and Civil Relations Department and MD of the State Home Construction Corporation, and many other officials were also present.
