Says Govt introducing RFID chip embedded PSP-2 version “ePassport”

The Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Mr Kirti Vardhan Singh recently inaugurated the renovated Passport Seva Kendra in Vijayawada.

Addressing the gathering he said that the Government is introducing RFID chip embedded PSP-2 version “ePassport”, to facilitate seamless travel between the countries and immigration process, with the help of new technological advancements.

Stating that the passport is a document that carry the hopes and aspirations of the holding person Mr Singh informed that the Government has taken up renovating all the RPOs with state of art technologies to issue passports in stipulated time to all the applicants.

The Minister said, the facilities are being developed in coordination with Tata Consulting Services, across the country in a record time.

He said, the Regional Passport Offices are becoming the symbol of country’s economic growth, opening the countless opportunities to the talented and skilled for personal and economic growth.

The Minister said, with the strengths of soft skills and innovation India is now shaping the global narrative. He underscored various initiatives of the Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi, including the Global Alliance for Solar Power in the fight against Climate Change.

Mr Singh thanked the Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, for the allocation of sufficient land in the State Capital Amaravati for the passport office construction.

Apart from RPO in Visakhapatnam, with PSK facilities in Vijayawada and Tirupati and 13 Kendras in various post offices, serve the central, south coastal and Rayalaseema districts in passport services.

Dr KJ Srinivas, Chief Passport Officer and Joint Secretary, informed that Vijayawada PSK would handle 1000 applications per day and 3.5 lakh in a year. Mr K Siva Harsha, Regional Passport Offoce Vijayawada also spoke on the occasion.
