Marking a significant step forward in discussions around sustainable energy sources the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), Visakhapatnam recently organised a 2-day India’s first ever International Conference on “Exploring the Potential of Natural Hydrogen: A Sustainable Energy Frontier”.
The conference was formally inaugurated by Prof. P. K. Banik, President, Board of Governors, IIPE, and Dr. Neloy Khare, Scientist-G from the Ministry of Earth Sciences, who served as Chief Patrons for the event.
The Director of IIPE, Prof. Shalivahan & Patron of the event, highlighted the urgent need to explore clean and renewable alternatives such as natural hydrogen to meet the growing global energy demand while mitigating climate change.
The conference aimed to foster international collaboration and knowledge exchange in the rapidly emerging field of natural hydrogen energy (H2), which is touted to be a transformative source of clean energy due to its natural abundance and low environmental footprint.
The conference also emphasised on the formulation of exploration strategies, policy initiatives and road map for making Natural Hydrogen as an important clean energy resource which considered as a game changer in global energy scenario.
Dr. Prabhakar Thakur, Head, Hydrocarbon Efficiency and New Energy Wing of Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) enumerated the different policy initiatives taken up by the DGH in the Hydrogen Energy Sector.
The convener of the conference, Prof. K. Vijaya Kumar, along with co-convener Prof. Roshan K. Singh also participated.
