Ms Roshni Aparanji Korati, IAS (2011) today assumed charge as the Deputy Chairperson, Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA), becoming the first Woman IAS Officer to hold this position.
An Officer of the Assam–Meghalaya Cadre, Ms Roshni belongs to Visakhapatnam, where she completed her entire education.
Her appointment carries special significance as her father served as a School Head Master at Visakhapatnam Port High School. In a proud moment of legacy, she has now assumed charge as the Deputy Chairperson of the same organisation, said a release from VPA.
Born on 3rd April 1984, she is a Gold Medalist in Mass Communication from Andhra University and brings with her extensive administrative experience at District, State, and Central levels.
She has served as Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jorhat and also as Collector and District Magistrate for the same District.
In addition, she served as Collector and District Magistrate of Dhemaji in Assam, leading major rural development and welfare initiatives.
Ms Roshni later served as Secretary to the Government of Assam, including as Secretary, Elementary Education, and Mission Director of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).
She has also held leadership roles as Agriculture Secretary and Project Director, ARIAS Society.
Ms Roshni is also a recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration (2018) and is widely recognised for her exemplary public service.
Prior to joining VPA, she served on Central Deputation as Joint Development Commissioner, VSEZ.
