‘Role of Women paramount in Port operations’

Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) celebrated International Women’s Day with much pomp & gaiety.

VPA chairperson Dr. M. Angamuthu, IAS, participated in the event along with special Invitees Ms. Vijaya Krishnan, IAS, District Collector, Anakapalli, Ms. Divya Harendhira Prasad, Advocate, Mr Durgesh Kumar Dubey, IRTS, Deputy Chairperson, Mr P.S.L. Swami, IOFS, and Chief Vigilance Officer.

Addressing the gathering, Chairperson lauded the Port Women’s Wing for their contributions in fostering a positive working environment within the Port. Dr. Angamuthu, emphasized the significant role women employees played in the Port’s development and encouraged them to continue their hard work and bring laurels to the organization. As a part of the celebrations, the Visakhapatnam Port Women’s Wing organized a series of cultural programs and set up special stalls featuring Araku Coffee, Millets Stall to promote local products.

Senior women employees due for retirement were also felicitated by the Chairperson and other dignitaries. 1st 2nd and 3rd prizes were distributed to the Women Employees who had done more of the “Igot Karmayogi” courses and also distributed prizes to winners of various competitions conducted by the Port Women’s Wing.

The celebrations highlighted Vizag Port’s commitment in recognizing and empowering women employees, acknowledging their dedication and contributions to the organization’s growth. Mr T. Venu Gopal, Secretary, Visakhapatnam Port Authority also attended the function.
