VPA holds mega roadshow for IMW 2025

Good opportunity for AP to realize CM’s maritime vision: VPA Chairman

Dr. M.Angamuthu, IAS, Chairperson, Visakhapatnam Port Authority has urged the maritime community of the state of Andhra Pradesh to participate in big numbers at the upcoming India Maritime week 2025.

Addressing a roadshow titled PORTCON-2025 in the city of Visakhapatnam today Dr Angamuthu said this is a great opportunity for maritime stakeholders from Andhra Pradesh to showcase the Swarnandhra vision of the chief minister Mr N Chandrababu Naidu and to take AP’s maritime sector to the next level.

“The CM has stressed on having some maritime activity at every 50 kms of the state’s long coastline which is the 3rd largest coastline in the country. This presents a huge opportunity for businesses in the shipping, ports and logistics space” said VPA’s chairperson.

The India Maritime Week is scheduled to be held in Mumbai from October 27th -31st, 2025.

Emphasising the significance of this global maritime congregation the chairman said that the event expects participation from over 1,00,000 delegates representing 100+ countries, positioning it as one of the world’s largest maritime events.

“The who’s who of the shipping and maritime world will be there” said the chairperson, VPA.

In addition, he also highlighted that VPA had recently organized a one-of-a-kind hackathon to get solutions to some of the operational challenges faced in the ports sector.

“I must tell you we are the first port in the country to organize such a hackathon wherein startups were recognized for some of their innovative solutions,” said Dr Angamuthu.

Similarly, Mr Mruthanjeya Jha, Director (Ports), MoPSW, informed the 5 Legislative Acts-2025 passed in the Parliament which would transform the Maritime Sector as a whole.

He later made a presentation on the Indian Maritime Sector explaining the significance and importance of VIBHAS and NAVIC CELLS in making the Indian Maritime one of the major contributions to India’s economy.

Speaking on the behalf of the customs, Mr Sridhar, Principal Secretary, Customs, emphasized Oceans are the wealth of the country and reiterated that all stakeholders need to work hand-in-hand in transforming the Sector to higher levels.

Mr Animesh Bharati, Sr. Economic Advisor, MoPSW gave a detailed presentation on the sector and the phenomenal growth the sector has witnessed over the past 10 years.

Mr Durgesh Kumar Dubey, IRTS, Deputy Chairperson, VPA, along with Mr T. Venu Gopal, Secretary, VPA, and other senior dignitaries participated in the program.
