Following his appointment as the General Manager of South Coast Railway (SCoR) Mr Sandeep Mathur, recently paid his maiden visit to Visakhapatnam.

The South Coast Railway (SCoR) zone is the 18th zone of Indian Railways, with headquarters in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

The newly formed zone was approved by the Union Cabinet and is being carved out of the East Coast Railway and South Central Railway zones.

As per sources the zone will primarily serve Andhra Pradesh, with parts of Telangana and Tamil Nadu also falling under its jurisdiction.

During his visit, he interacted with Mr Lalit Bohra, Divisional Railway Manager, and other divisional officials at the DRM office and held detailed discussions regarding ongoing developmental activities and the future action plan for the zonal operations.

An officer of the Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE), 1988 Batch, Mr Mathur previously served as the Principal Executive Director (Signal Modernization) at the Railway Board before taking over as General Manager of South Coast Railway.

During his visit, the General Manager also held meetings with Mr Ankush Gupta, Chief Administrative Officer/Construction, and other senior officials from the construction department.

The discussions focused on gathering feedback about infrastructure development and reviewing the progress of various projects of the South Coast Railway.

Mr Mathur is scheduled to visit other divisions of the newly formed zone to obtain firsthand feedback on developmental activities and matters related to zone formation.

Mr B. Chandra Shekhar OSD to South Coast Railway was also present in the meeting.

It might be recalled that Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha MP Mr M Sribharat had in January this year written a letter to the railway minister asking him to expedite the appointment of a general manager for the zone in order fast track development works for the new zone.
