Ten Lighthouses in AP being built for Tourism

As per the ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways at total of 10 lighthouses are being developed for tourism purposes in Andhra Pradesh.

These 10 lighthouses are situated in Ramayapatnam, Machilipatnam, Antervedi, Sacramento, Vakalpudi, Santapalli, Kalingapatnam, Baruva, Vodarevu, Pudimadaka.

Similarly 17 lighthouses are being developed in Gujarat, 15 in Tamil Nadu, 11 in Kerala etc. In all a total of 75 lighthouses have been identified for tourism purposes in 10 States/Union Territories ((list enclosed as Annexure-I).

Lighthouse at Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu is under development in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode for tourism purposes.

Infrastructure facilities like museum, amphi-theatre, open air theatre, cafeteria, children play area, gazebo, landscaping and lifts have been developed for tourism purpose in selected lighthouses. At present tourism at Mahabalipuram lighthouse in Tamil Nadu is under development in PPP mode.
