Vizag port holds stakeholders Meet

Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) recently conducted a stakeholders meet wherein its chairman Dr. M. Angamuthu, IAS, Chairperson, VPA, acknowledged the invaluable contributions of stakeholders, State and District Administrations, and Public Sector Undertakings like Railways, Customs, and NHAI.

He appreciated their support in achieving this milestone and emphasized the need for continued collaboration to reach greater heights. ‘VPA is making remarkable strides towards achieving its target of 90 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) for the fiscal year 2024-25’ noted the chairman. As of now, VPA has already handled 55 MMT in just 249 days, setting a record in the port’s history.

Last fiscal, VPA achieved it’s highest-ever cargo handling of 81.09 MMT. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Angamuthu outlined VPA’s commitment to port-led growth, aligning with the visions of Prime Minister’s Maritime India Vision 2047 and Chief Minister’s Swarna Andhra Pradesh.

The Chairperson invited stakeholders to share inputs for finalizing a comprehensive master plan, which is set to be completed by February 2025.

Mr Harendira Prasad, IAS, Vizag District Collector, Dr. Sampath Kumar, IAS, GVMC Commissioner, participated and praised Chairperson, VPA and his team, for tremendous efforts in greenery and beautification of Vizag City and Port’s unstinted support for the development of community through CSR funds.

The event also witnessed the participation of Mr Hemanth Katri, CMD, HSL, Mr N. Sridhar, IRS, Principal Commissioner, Customs & GST & many other senior dignitaries.
