AP scores big at India Skills Contest

Andhra Pradesh recently participated in the four-day long IndiaSkills National Competition 2024 held at Yeshbhoomi Dwarka. AP won 13 medals which includes 1 gold, 1 bronze and 11 medallions of excellence.

The event was organised as part of the World Skill Competitions to be held on Lyon, France 2024. World Skills Competition is an international skill competition conducted once in two years. 

In all, 900 candidates participated in 60 trades showcasing their skills. Forty two candidates from 37 trades participated from Andhra Pradesh.

The event, brought together the brightest young minds from across the nation to compete and demonstrate their proficiency in a wide array of traditional and new-age skills. 

A total of 58 candidates across 52 skills will now train to represent India in WorldSkills scheduled to take place in Lyon, France in September 2024.

APSSDC provided training to these candidates. AP secured gold in cosmetic Design, bronze in Mechanical CAD, followed by medallion of excellences in 11 other trades.

IndiaSkills 2024 has seen a remarkable increase in women’s participation, showcasing their immense talent and resilience. 

This year, IndiaSkills was supported by more than 400 Industry and Academic Partners like Toyota Kirloskar, Autodesk, JK Cement, Maruti Suzuki, Lincoln Electric, NAMTECH, Vega, Loreal, Schneider Electric, Festo India, Artemis, Medanta, and Cygnia Healthcare.
