Speaking on the IT sector on a whole Mr Srinath Devireddy, IT advisor to Government of Andhra Pradesh informed that a slew of path breaking initiatives are being led by the Chief Minister to transform the state into a leading IT destination.

‘Under the directions of our CM Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy we are working towards taking fibre connectivity to all the villages in the state. Soon 14000 villages will be connected via fibre’ said Mr Devireddy addressing the audience at the recently held Infinity Vizag summit 2023.

He similarly highlighted the enormous skill development and training initiative being undertaken by the GoAP by partnering with the best in the world to get the youth of AP skilled and in tune with today’s requirements.

‘Google, Microsoft, Salesforce, IBM and many more are partnering with Andhra Pradesh to upskill our youth’ he said.

The IT advisor informed that in Nov 2022 salesforce certified 25000 people of which 80% were from Andhra Pradesh.

Mr Devireddy simultaneously lauded the new curriculum for engineering which came into effect in August 2020 and for mandating 3 internships for students. This will help in making our youth skill ready and employable, he noted.

Remote Work the New Normal

Talking on the changing work dynamics in the IT sector he said that the COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically transformed the way the IT industry’s workforce operates and opined that work from home is here to stay.

‘The IT industry is not going back to pre-covid days of working’ said Mr Devireddy.

Noting that the move to the virtual world of operating is the new normal he cited a survey which stated that an overwhelming 50% of employees want to work from home and just 13% want to work from office.

Leading Provider of IT Workforce

The IT advisor also hailed the huge contribution of Andhra Pradesh in providing IT workforce.‘The people of AP make up most of the IT workforce contributing roughly anywhere between 20%-30% of the IT workforce in India. Just in 2022 AP alone added 1% to the Indian IT workforce. This is substantial’ said the IT advisor.
